[About Garnet Coral]
This type of coral was originally harvested near the Hawaiian Islands and Midway Islands. It is no longer harvested, and its distribution volume is decreasing year by year.
In the past, logs harvested by Japanese ships were collected in Kochi and auctioned.
It is relatively transparent, and its color ranges from white to pale pink, sometimes even becoming a deep salmon pink with an orange tint.
While it does not have a distinct white hue like red or peach, the pink surface gradually fades to white toward the center of the stem. Therefore, even loose stones often have white areas on the underside.
It is sometimes lumped together with other types and referred to as pink coral.
*This is a general description; there are exceptions within the same species.
[About Precious Coral]
Because coral takes many years to grow, it may have long been worn with the hope of longevity and healthy growth.
Overseas, coral is also worn as a talisman for safe childbirth and the growth of children.
In Japan, coral is given as a commemorative gift for a 35th wedding anniversary (coral wedding), and red coral is often given as a gift for a 60th birthday.
Coral is also the birthstone for March, making it a popular birthday gift for those born in March.
[About Sansui Precious Coral]
Our shop is located in Kochi Prefecture, a world-famous coral production area.
Our workshop handles everything from purchasing coral logs to processing loose stones, and from designing jewelry to processing precious metals.
Coral is a gemstone created by nature. The colors and shapes of the coral logs vary greatly, making it difficult to recreate the same loose coral.
Some pieces have beautiful color gradations that are beyond the scope of grade or words, and some have beautiful shapes that could not be created by human hands. This is one of the charms of precious coral, created by nature.
We offer a wide variety of products, from high-quality to jewelry-quality, so be sure to find your favorite coral.
