The Izukyu Line opened on December 10, 1961, running 45.7 km between Ito Station and Izukyu-Shimoda Station.
The Izukyu 8000 series was acquired from Tokyu Corporation's 8000 and 8500 series, with 45 cars gradually introduced around 2004 to replace the older cars.
Upon introduction, the cars were modified to suit their intended use.
The body color features a light blue stripe reminiscent of the 100 series trains that were in service when the line first opened, and the seating is uniquely arranged with cross seats on the ocean side and bench seats on the mountain side, allowing for spectacular views of the east coast of Izu.
This product features the TA-7 train, an "unwrapped carriage" that is also used for event trains and chartered trains.
By using a separately sold power unit and N gauge running parts, the train can be run as an N gauge model train.
We recommend the TM-14 (20m class A2) power unit, TT-03R running parts set, and PS101CN (PS16HS) [0232] pantograph.
