About the Kutani Ware Style: Old Kutani by Goto Saijiro (approximately 360 years ago). The original "Kokutani" style was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around 1655. Under the guidance of master Kano school painter Kusumi Morikage, it uses five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and indigo. With bold, pictorially perfected compositions and free yet delicate lines, it is the style that is most characteristic of Kutani.
