[About Garnet Coral] This species was harvested near the Hawaiian Islands and Midway Islands, but as it is no longer harvested, the amount in circulation is decreasing year by year. At the time, logs harvested by Japanese ships were collected in Kochi and auctioned. It is relatively transparent, and colors range from white to pale pink, and when they become darker, they turn a salmon pink with an orange tint. It does not have a distinct white color like red or peach, but even though the surface is pink, the color becomes whiter towards the center of the trunk. For this reason, even loose stones often have white areas on the back. It is sometimes lumped together with other species and referred to as pink coral. *This is a general description, and there are exceptions even within the same type. Sometimes, there are pieces with beautiful color gradations that cannot be expressed in grade or words, and pieces with beautiful shapes that could not be created by human hands. This is one of the charms of precious coral created by nature. Also, because it is natural, not all raw coral is beautiful, and many have scratches, but we strive to process them without wasting them.
