Product Introduction

Racing plugs are designed for use in engines with increased power output through racing, circuit racing, or tuning.

As a result, their shape differs from the manufacturer's standard plugs, which may result in a slight sacrifice in plug life and low-speed performance. (Racing plugs do not improve power output.)

Important Notes on Selecting Racing Plugs Check the thread size, plug type, and shape of your original or current plugs by part number and select the appropriate type.

Refer to "How to Select an Ignition Head Shape" to select the appropriate spark head shape.

The heat value determines the spark head temperature of the plug, so it must be selected taking into account the increased combustion speed due to increased engine power output and driving conditions. Note that increasing the heat value alone will not improve engine performance.

Due to recent improvements in ignition systems, there is no difference in performance between plugs with and without a resistor. Conversely, using non-resistor types may cause ECU problems in some models.

Precautions for Use

Racing plugs are used to enhance the performance of tuned engines (modified to increase power output), but they do not necessarily improve power output. Because racing plugs are designed to meet the demanding requirements of rigorous engine tuning, such as in racing, the heat value and firing point shape are selected (set) to meet these requirements. Select racing plugs based on the degree of engine tuning and desired driving conditions.
